The Health Improvement Network (THIN)
THIN is a data collection service that aims to help Vision users improve the quality of their data recording by analysing the practice’s anonymised patient information and reporting back to the practice on a regular basis. Free training seminars with InPS trainers are offered to help Vision users better utilise their system, as well as Training Vouchers as an alternative to cash payment.
In this way, all members of the scheme are offered help with the GP Contract and other data recording policies.
The THIN database of anonymous patient information is then accessed worldwide by researchers to for medical studies in drug safety, epidemiology and health outcomes.
The scheme has been approved by a Department of Health Multicentre Research Ethics Committee.
